South Korean police detained a man who had stolen 4.7 billion won (about US $ 8.5 million) of the company where he worked and then underwent plastic surgery to change his features, said on Friday the newspaper "Chosun".
The authorities revealed after his arrest on Wednesday, the accused, identified by the surname Yoon and has about 30 years old, transferred the company's money to six bank accounts in his name last year.
Yoon started working in the finance department of a semiconductor manufacturer in South Chungcheong province two years ago, where he was arrested in a house rented by a friend.
In just two days, the accused managed to divert 4.7 billion won, and then traveled to Seoul, which drew 3.36 billion (R $ 6.1 million) before the company stolen alerting the banks.
The company sued the police immediately and offered 100 million won (US $ 182,000) reward for his capture.
The man then traveled to the province of South Jeolla Province and buried half the money on a hill near his home city and the rest in a house in the province, officials said.
To be caught, Yoon spent 610 million won (US $ 1.11 million) in night establishments in a luxury car, the rental of a house in the city of Gwangju and plastic surgery to try to outwit the police.
